ELY! ELY! ELY!

This is Mr. Eleande Basino Buendia, also known as ELY BUENDiA. Sino bang Pilipino ang hindi kilala si Ely? Sino bang Pilipino ang hindi kilala ang isa sa mga kahangahangang musikero sa bansa? Kung hindi mo siya kilala, pwes. Kilalanin mo siya. :D

Ely Buendia is one of the best musicians in the country. Isa sa mga taong nabiyayaan ng magandang boses at naging bokalista ng iba’t ibang banda tulad ng The Mongols, Pupil, ang malupet na ERASERHEADS at marami pa. I’ve mentioned na naging vocalist siya ng isang malupet na banda at yon ay ang ERASERHEADS. One of my all time favorite band.

In the year 1989, four brilliant students of  the University of the Philippines namely, RAiMUND MARASiGAN, BUDDY ZABALA, MARCUS ADORO, AND ELY BUENDiA formed a band called the ERASERHEADS but also disbanded in the year 2001. I do not know why the band disbanded and I do not know if they’ll be working together again.

As I’ve said, Eraserheads is one of my favorite band. I am a very big fan of the band and a big fan of Ely. Eventough I am only fifteen years old and not yet existing when the band was formed, I am still a big fan of them. But unfortunately, nalaman ko lang na favorite ko tong banda na to after their reunion concert the final set. So unlucky >.<

Minsan naiisip ko kung paano ko pa sila makikita na magkakasam. I always wish na sana tumugtog sila muli ng magkakasama. Every Christmas, I always wish na sana Makita ko sila. Ayos lang kung isa isa pero mas maganda kung samasama.

April  2009- mapapanood daw sa tv yung final set ng reunion concert ng eheads. I waited for it and successfully watched the concert kahit napuyat pa ako.

October  24, 2009, nakita ko si Ely Buendia. I was sooooooooooooo happppppyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Hindi ko akalaing makikita ko siya but with his new band called Pupil. Pero ayos lang. Makita si Ely sa personal ay isang wish granted. Ganito kasi yun: nag pm saken yung pinsan ko and told me that there will be a event wherein Pupil will be performing and that was Octoberfest sa Taal Vista Hotel. Dun siya nagtatrabaho so, nilibre niya ko. I am so excited and can’t wait to see Ely not just him but also the band. Nagkataong namista pa kami, 6 na ng gabi ng makauwi at muntik nang hindi makapunta sa Octoberfest. Wala kasi akong kasama. Sabi saken ni nanay kung pwede daw wag nang tumuloy. Sinumpong tuloy ako. Nagalit, nagdabog. Binuksan ang t.v. at sa t.v. may kumakanta ng “. . . magkahawaka n gating kamay at walang kamalaymalay, na tinuruan mo ang puso ko na umibig ng tunay. . . “. Nainis ako at pinatay ang t.v. nakita ako ng kuya ko at sinabing tumuloy na daw ako at sasamahan niya ako. I am so happy. Nung nasa venue na, nandun na daw yung banda kaso mamaya pa tutugtog after ng ibang banda. Dahil dun nagtatrabaho yung pinsan ko, pumasok kami sa hotel at hununting yun banda. Haha. Malapit na kami sa kanila, as in, kaso nahiya naman kaming lumapit. Hahaha! :D lumabas na lang kami ng hotel at nanood magperfirm ng ibang banda. Sa paghihintay, nag-cr muna ako. Sumisigaw yung kasama ko na nasa labas ng cr na nandyan na daw si Ely. Nagmadali ako. Paglabas ko wala pa. hahahahaha! Pagkapunta ng cr I went straight in front of the stage where the band will be performing. At dahil pumunta na ako sa harap, sumunod na yung mga tao at pumunta din dun (hahahaha! :D) nakita ko yung gitara na kulay cream parang dirty white yung color tapos may black basta yun naa yung color nay un. Hahaha. When I saw the guitar I told them na lalabas na nga si Ely dahil sa kanya yung gitara na yun J. At yun, lumabas na nga ang Pupil and the people shouted because of the excitement that the band is ready to rock the venue. Madami din naman silang kinanta pero ang pinakamalupet sa lahat ng kanta ay ang SUPERPROXY. Isa sa mga paborito kong kanta. Intro pa lang, alam ko ng SUPERPROXY yung tutgtugin nila. After the performance, nakapag papicture ako kay Yan Yuzon but never had a picture with Ely. Actually, malapit na talaga, as in magpopose na lang at ngingiti kami ni Ely kaso hinila siya nung lalaki. Parang bodyguard nya. Basta ewan kung sino yun. Basta that man ruined my night. >.<  before going home, I was so sad and asked my cousin if wala na ba talaga si Ely. :’(  I’m happy that night yet not complete ( mga 99.99 lang happiness ko nun. L)  yan ang kwento ng hindi ko kumpletong Octoberfest.

November lang nang malaman ko na Pupil at Sandwich ang cover ng Myx Mag. I immediately bought one because the cover was the bands wherein the frontmen are the ex members of the ERASERHEADS. Nang mabasa ko yung Mag madami akong nalaman tungkol kay Ely. Na yung album nila ni Francis M. lapit na matapos, at marami pang iba.

December 29, 2009- kasama ko mga tropa ko pumunta sa Sm. When we were in the National Bookstore, I found the book that I was looking for so many times. May kwento din yan, ganito : pagpasok ko sa Bookstore naalala ko yung libro ng eheads yun “tikman ang langit, an anthology on the eraserheads” . hinanap ko ng hinanap. Nasa entertainment section na kami kaso wala pa rin akong  Makita. We decided to left until this guy said “tikman ang langit” he read the title of the book that I’m looking for. I went back and got the book. And because it is my birthday( December 27), two of my friends bought it for me. I thank them because they completed my birthday. J

March 2010- its our recollection and there was an activity where we will write the things we want to accomplish and our wishes for  this year 2010. I wrote that I want to see the eraserheads perform together and brother asked me “disbanded na sila diba?” I was like, oo nga po pero hindi naman yun imposoble diba? NOTHiNG Is IMPOSSiBLE WiTH GOD. And he agreed. J

December 12, 2010- pinalabas sa gma7 yun birthday concert ni ely na tinatawag na ELY BUENDiA XL. At syempre naman I watched it. Kahit may pasok kinabukasan I still watched. Ganyan ko kamahal si ELY. NAPUYAT MAN AKO, NAPANOOD KO NAMAN ANG iDOL KO. J

And as the year ends, hindi man nagrant yung wish ko, I will always wish that years later I can see the eraserheads together again. I will always wish na sana makita ko ulet si Ely at makapagpapicture sa kanya. Hangga’t hidi yun natutupad that will always be my birthday wish.

ELY BUENDiA is not just a simple musician. He is amazing, with amazing talents and skills. He is a great man, a great father of his son, a great brother to his siblings, a great son to his parents and a great person to GOD.

( this blog isn’t just ‘bout Ely but also how much I like the eraserheads. Many people said i will never see them again na wala na sila. But hindi ako nawawalan ng pagasa na someday I’ll see them. I always hope for that day. Whenever they say that to me, I’m just ignoring them and tell “pakelam mo! Idol ko e!” haha! They don’t care! I like the eraserheads! I like Ely!)
